Accountability
Tekera Resource Centre believes that
sponsors of the project are entitled to a full and transparent account
of how their donation has been used. TRC publishes financial reports
twice a year and also writes to inform each donor of how their money is
spent when requested. Donors can also request how money contributed is
spent. Donors may request cost breakdowns for any programme or building.
TRC is aiming towards complete financial and organizational
self-sufficiency for the Centre. Already the clinic, school and
Community Farm are generating a small income, which is ploughed back
into the project. We expect this income to increase every year and
eventually cover most of the running costs involved. Future community
projects will be developed to increase employment in the area while
generating a profit for the Centre.
All donations are used for ongoing running costs and development of the
services and activities at the centre. Administration costs are small
and the organization ensures that all funds donated are spent wisely.
Since the project started, there has been capital expenditure on
buildings, land acquisition and equipment. The main construction
projects (school buildings, centre & clinic and staff residence)
were
completed in 2009. The ongoing running costs of the centre include salaries,
drugs, materials and staff subsistence. We have now turned our attention
on other pressing issues like the care of abused women, children without
guardians and those that have taken in homeless children but have
difficulty providing for them.
